Sony Ericsson has a long history of pushing the limit when it comes to hybridizing their various technologies, adding cameras to mobile phones, then slapping on MP3 players, radios, and whatever else the design team has room for. But with the K750i, the race to add features has slowed, and a move towards the quality integration of these disparate functions has begun.
By upgrading the digital camera resolution to a near industry leading 2 megapixels, the K750i can accurately be described as a camera as well as a phone, not just a camera phone. The pictures and short videos come out bright and clear, and with the phone’s auto focus feature you are guaranteed an in focus shot.
Saving a large amount of pictures on your mobile is actually realistic on the K750i with its 32 MB of memory, augmented by a 64 MB Memory Stick Duo. Although the need for an external database (such as your computer) still exists, your “favorites”—all the media that you just cannot live without—can be securely stored on your phone, with plenty of memory left over for new acquisitions.
And when you are deciding which pictures you should keep, which to delete, and which to send to your friends and family, the K750i gives you plenty of options. First off, with 262,000 colors and a vibrant 176 X 220 pixel display screen powered by TFT technology (keeps your images bright even in direct sunlight), the K750i allows you to get a close look at the pics you just took, with a surprising amount of detail. Second, when it comes time to send off pics to your loved ones, this mobile allows you to use Bluetooth, E-mail, MMS, and a host of other technologies—all bundled up under Sony Ericsson’s Quickshare trademark—to send your files quickly and efficiently no matter where you are.
But the K750i does not stop with the integration of the camera and the phone. This sweet little device (just 99 g.) also contains an FM radio, an MP3 player, and 40-voice polyphonic ringtones, just to name a few features. With all the media that this phone can hold, it also is a nice platform for Java games, both 3-D and 2-D. If you do choose to take advantage of all the media options that this phone allows you to, the extra 64 MB on the MSD is certainly a welcome addition.
With nearly 9 hours of talk time and 400 hours of standby time you will notice that this phone does not leave you without power in its 900mAh lithium polymer battery very often.
In summary, this phone is excellent for media hogs of all varieties, and represents a successful integration of all the various media players and grabbers that it houses: a near-perfect phone.
