Siemens C55 Review

Nokia 9500

With its milky exterior and glow in the dark housing, the Siemens C55 aims at stealing the hearts of teenagers. Its cute, curvy look screams teen appeal despite being a little too plasticky and hefty.

The key feature of the C55 is its luminescent CLIPit cover. What a let down! It simply failed to grab our attention. The glowing coat is barely noticeable except in nearly complete darkness when it gives off a soft greenish light.

The keypad is a bit too noisy but has a good crisp feel about it. Siemens' blinding blue backlight display makes an appearance but offers a decent five lines of text.

The C55 offers both recordable and polyphonic ringtones. The melodies are loud but come across rather brassy and artificial. It has the ability to record sounds or voices for playback as ringtones but the microphone is extremely sensitive, so it may be difficult to get a good recorded melody. Standard tunes and a few interesting ringtones are preinstalled on the C55 for example dogs barking and cats mewing.

The Siemens C55 sports wireless Java and has a full array of other features including GPRS, WAP browser, Enhanced Messaging Service, organizer and speakerphone mode.

The reception, signal and battery life of the C55 are very good. However, it is worth noting that the C55 isn't compatible with chargers from previous Siemens phones.

The C55 is a surprising usable phone with enough functions to easily appeal to its designated market.
