The Siemens MC60 is one of the first phones available with an in-built camera and aimed at the younger market. The phone focuses on visual appeal more than functionality, so is a popular choice for teenagers.
The phones key features are its camera and it’s stunning looks, it has a comfortable circular keypad and a red backlight to make text easier to read. It is also very light and can be carried easily in a pocket and has a very good reception quality. Unfortunately since the Siemens MC60 came onto the market, other phones have appeared that boast superior integrated cameras and better screen capabilities, but this is still great fun.
The phonebook can hold 100 numbers and it is also possible to store email addresses for contacts. Another good feature is the option to assign a graphic file, either a photo or picture, to phone book entries. The organiser has monthly, weekly and daily view with a timescale and schedule included. It is also possible to store up to 500 events in the organiser, perfect for active social lives.
The Siemens MC60 has multimedia messaging and a WAP 1.2.1 web browser, which although slower than the 2.0 version still allows ringtones, JavaTM games and images to be downloaded onto the phone. The memory has enough space to hold approximately 10 melodies, 3 JavaTM games and several photos.
The phone also comes with 16 polyphonic ringtones, a call waiting/call hold facility, conference call and a hands-free speakerphone option. It has all the expected features including calculator, converter, stop-watch, count-down timer, alarm and text templates but it also possible to set up 10 voice commands for menu options and find out what time it is in New York and Paris using the world time facility.
