Samsung E350 Review

Samsung E530

The Samsung E350 is a cute little mid-level slider, building on the basic platform of the flip form E330, but upgrading and adding to the features of that more basic model.

The first thing you see when you get your hands on an E350 is the large external screen. At only 128 X 160 pixels, it’s actually not as high of a resolution as some sliders can be (with the added room coming from the hidden keyboard), but it looks big, and with 65,000 colors and Samsung’s patented screen technologies, it is a nice and vibrant phone to use.

From the closed mode you can make and answer calls using the answer/hang-up buttons, and the 4-way directional keypad. Open it up—the E350 has a manual sliding feature, replacing the added weight that comes with am automatic opening feature—and you will find a well spaced out, ergonomic alphanumeric keypad.

The digital camera is still .3 Megapixels, meaning that it is not bad, but also incapable of capturing anything with any form of detail. The E350 also has a limited video capturing capability, but the quality on that is even lower than for pictures, and should hardly affect someone’s purchasing decision.

One big plus of the E350 is the added MP3 player. Songs can be played in several different orders (shuffle, straight through, etc.), and can also be used as ringtones. At 40MB of memory, the E350 has more than most phones, but at the same time is hardly large enough to support a vast array of media. Additional memory is necessary to make this feature truly useful.

Talk time is a low 3 hours, making battery recharges rather frequent (1-3 days, depending on usage), and connectivity is relatively basic as well. one large black mark against this phone is the lack of BluetoothÔ. EMS, SMS, MMS, and E-mail make it ideal for text and file transfer, however, and the WAP 2.0 browser allows you to surf the web, albeit in a more basic format.

There is something irrepressibly fun about the E350, even though its features are low to mid-level, and some of them—like the MP3 player—only have a limited use.
