Nokia 7610 Review

Nokia 9500

The Nokia 7610 has a more conventional design than other phones in the Fashion Collection, but its rich color schemes, which include burgundy and orange, combined with its distinctive take on the “soapbar” design, make this phone anything but typical. Mobile phone users seeking a stylish phone, but put off by the avant-garde nature of phones such as the Nokia 7280—with a mold-breaking elongated design and integrated dial in place of a keypad—may end up feeling more at home with this mobile phone’s straightforward but eye-catching design.

The good news for fans of the Fashion Collection is that while Nokia may have come down to earth a bit with the 7610, they’ve also included some extra features to more than make up for the decline in flash. Enhanced imaging capability, loads of connectivity options, and an MP3 player are all features that are likely to win people over to the Nokia 7610.

With e-mail, instant messenger, and SMS communication options, you may find that you never get around to actually talking on the phone. When you do, though, the Nokia 7610 automatically switches you to the proper network on five continents around the world, so while you may have to fight jet-lag and culture shock, at least you won’t have to interrupt your conversation.

Up to ten minutes of video recording time allows for plenty of fun, and the 1 megapixel integrated digital camera is a sharp improvement over similar Nokia models. Perhaps most exciting is the MP3 player, which, while coming at the expense of an FM radio, is an exciting addition to the Fashion Collection.

This phone also has a generous 8 MB integrated memory plus a 64 MB MMC that gives you the room you’ll appreciate once you start taking pictures and videos—and playing MP3s. The Nokia 7610 can also interface with PCs through Bluetooth and USB, so upload often and you won’t need to choose which pictures to save. Those with some extra cash can also peruse Nokia’s image storage devices.

In addition to an FM radio receiver, the phone also lacks a GPS, but many mobile phone users will be willing to overlook the absence of these functions in light of the many other features packed into this lightweight, powerful, and stylish phone.
