The Nokia 6610 is aimed towards the businessman with its clean lines and classic look. It is certainly an all-rounder with a colour screen, polyphonic ring tones, stereo FM radio and triple band as well as MMS and downloadable Java applications.
It is a slim line, lightweight phone with easy navigation. It comes in a selection of colours with changeable x-press on covers available. The Nokia 6610 resembles the 6100 in appearance, and is almost identical to the 7210 in terms of features.
Of the features available the phone's colour screen is perhaps its weakest. The 4096 colour passive screen is not very bright and essentially unimpressive for a camera-compatible phone; there is also noticeable colour banding and screen flickering when playing games. A Nokia PC Suite is also required to beam images to and from the Nokia 6610 hence it severely limits the users freedom to customize the phone.
Possible the best feature of the Nokia 6610 is its excellent integrated FM stereo radio and it polyphonic ring tones which offer high quality sounds that can be used as personal ringing tones and SMS alert tones. The Nokia 6610 has excellent signal reception and voice quality and a good battery life but unfortunately it lacks Bluetooth.
The Java capability means that you can download games just as easily as downloading ring tones or graphics. Pre-installed Java applications include a thermometer, currency and measurement converter, a portfolio manager, and two games. MMS means you can send and receive multimedia messages containing text and pictures.
The Nokia 6610 certainly looks good on paper but may have problems distinguishing itself against many of the high quality phones currently available.
