Nokia 6600 Review

Nokia 9500

The Nokia 6600 is certainly a dynamic and curvaceous design. The style is typical of the 6000 series with a joystick situated in the middle and a curved key design. The keypad can be a little difficult to use due to this but it is certainly not the worst on the market and does have a standard blue backlight. However the handset only seems to come in two colours grey and pink so it may not suit some tastes.

The 6600 is slightly bigger than average being 108.6mm in height and 58.2mm in width however it is still comfortable to the hand and weighs a standard 122g. This on the other hand, does leave room for a large screen that supports an impressive 65,536-color TFT display as opposed to the 4096 colours used in previous models. In addition this you can also set themes and not only backgrounds, but also with icons and sounds. Certainly a gimmick but a fun and easy to use one as everything can be done with one or two key-pressings.

The Nokia 6600 not only has a digital camera with zoom but also a video recorder and player. It comes with RealOne player giving it the ability to play back and stream 3GPP-compatible and RealMedia video clips. The camera has a VGA resolution and three different qualities or compressing are available. You can also use this camera in the evenings as night-shot mode is available.

The Nokia 6600 does have Bluetooth and a larger than normal memory of 6mb. The 6600 is part of the series 60 platform which means Through you can download and use a variety of applications including accessing your email and surfing the internet. You can also synchronize your phone with your PC. It has the ability to run several applications at the same time and easily swap between them. This Nokia comes with both WAP and GPRS settings. Not only this but Java gaming is also available with the option to download.

Not only does this phone support polyphonic ringtones but it also allows you to use any mp3 as a ringtone. The sound doesn’t touch the surface of the original mp3 file, however, it is a fun feature and one of this phones original selling points. This is of course accompanied by the vibrating alert option and a musical composer. The Nokia 6600 also has voice activated commands and dialling.

Although the Nokia 6600 has slight problems with usability in key pad and lack of differing coloured handsets. It is certainly jam packed with features and still looks stylish. If you want an all sing all dancing handset this is defiantly worth consideration.
