Probably the main difference between the E313 and its most similar companion, the E228, is that instead of having two built in cameras—one for capturing and streaming live video, the other for taking higher resolution pictures—the E313 has a 180 degree rotating camera mounted on the top of the device, capable of pointing at you while you hold a 3G video call, and pointing away so that you can fine tune the picture that you want to take.

The E313 should be seen as an alternative to the E228, although the slightly bulkier and heavier dimensions may send people towards the latter, or something slimmer altogether.

The digital camera is basic, and the resolution of both pictures and video leaves quite a bit to be desired. The 3G network supports streaming video, and that is probably the feature that is most likely to draw people to a 3G phone, and to the E313 in particular.

But the E313 also houses an MP3 player, so you can bring your tunes with you on the go without having to buy a separate devoted device. With 19MB of memory, you won’t be storing every song you own, but the addition of a Memory Stick Duoä will boost the memory to the point where it becomes a functional music player.

The E313 is a tri band mobile, and can be taken almost everywhere. Although it lacks Bluetoothä connectivity, it does have infrared connectivity, as well as SMS, EMS, MMS, and E-mail for file and text transfer, a WAP 2.0 web browser, as well as a USB port for PC connections.

This truly is a bulky phone, and people attracted to it should be aware that the majority of the features here are available elsewhere in slimmer models.
