Motorola E550 Review

Motorola V80

The E550 continues Motorola’s line of well-made flip form phones, and this one is chockfull of features. Available for T-Mobile service, this matte black phone has everything you would expect in a modern phone, and maybe just a little bit more.

Released in late 2004, the E550 offers T-Mobile subscribers a flip with integrated camera, and MP3 player, and a large, colorful and bright screen. The phone also boasts most of today’s common methods of connectivity.

First, the camera: at 2 Megapixels it is no slouch, taking crisp pictures with high resolution. The camera works in most lights and features a 4X digital zoom that can help frame your pictures, but will not increase detail quality. The camera also has the ability to capture limited video, and also has a playback feature.

Once you have taken your pictures, the massive color display screen is ideal for viewing them. Delete your pics or keep them forever on the phone’s internal memory—the choice is yours.

Unlike older model phones the E550 is the ideal viewing apparatus for the pictures and videos that you capture, so the selection process can happen right on the phone, without uploading the pics to a computer. With the added bonus of TFT technology, your 176 X 200 pixel display screen appears vibrant and colorful, even in direct sunlight.

Sending your favorite pictures and videos is no problem, with Bluetoothä, MMS, and a PC connection via cable. This phone does not have an Infrared link, but with all the other options, you probably won’t miss it.

This phone also houses a fully integrated MP3 player, turning your phone into a jukebox on the go. Uploading your favorite songs, playlists, or albums from a PC is a cinch with all the connectivity options, and the E550 also allows you to select you favorite MP3 to use as your very own ringtone, upping the individuality of this phone greatly.

With only 5 MB of memory you will definitely want to boost your ability to house files with a TransFlashä memory card. They come in sizes up to 128 MB, and are easily synched with your phone, making your possible memory storage literally endless.

The E550 is a great flip phone that is loaded with features. It’s not the top of the line, but with all the afore-mentioned features it has just about everything that most of us might want, and a sleek design to go with it.
