LG U8110 Review

NEC E616

For the U8110, LG has put together an attractive, although heavy phone that doesn’t skimp on features. Weighing more than a simple camera phone allows the LG U8110 to provide extra functions such as an MP3 player, e-mail, and advanced video functions. The phone is also designed to utilize LG’s special data network, which offers users several benefits that help them get the most from their phone’s WAP connection and high quality display.

From the audio angle, this phone really sounds good. Included headphones are there to take advantage of the phone’s MP3 player and streaming video display. The LG U8110’s WAP interface connects users to a world of media possibility. The network streams films and allows users to access other forms of media—with plenty of fresh, up-to-date content.

The high resolution integrated speaker is another exciting feature that aids in both placing speakerphone and video calls, as well as taking further advantage of the MP3 player video playback.

This phone makes it possible for users to send e-mails, including attachments with pictures or sound. Pictures can also be stored as wallpapers, screen savers, or avatars for contacts.

The LG U8110’s integrated VGA camera may have less zoom capability than other camera phones, but it does have a couple features that help make up for this fault. For one, it can rotate 180 degrees, offering users a great deal of convenience and flexibility when taking pictures. For another, it doubles as a video camera, allowing users to hold video calls with compatible phones.

Java applications are another bonus for this phone. Ranging from games to productivity tools, Java capability is becoming more and more of an essential feature for today’s phones. One drawback to the LG U8110 is its reliance on network access to utilize many of the phone’s powerful media capabilities. And with a phone that’s stacked with multimedia features, some users might feel constrained by the phone’s rather limited 18 MB of memory—but overall this is a loaded phone that looks really good.
